Compare Kilberry bagpipes quality
There are three kinds of producers of bagpipes in the world.
- At the serious end of the market there are companies such as ourselves, mostly based in Scotland or North America, who produce excellent-sounding instruments sought after by competition players and enthusiasts who care about quality (think: BMW); if properly looked after, such bagpipes should give a lifetime's pleasure;
- a 'second tier' of bagpipe manufacturers, found in countries all over the world, produce instruments that may sound acceptable to the untrained ear (think: Ford), but who perhaps lack the experience and heritage that goes into a truly great instrument;
- finally there are the 'knock-off' producers, mostly from Pakistan or South East Asia, who make cheap substitutes (think: 1970s East European car) that are frankly little use but for decoration... and even then, won't do you much credit if seen by an experienced piper.
At Kilberry we have established a reputation as one of the world's leading bagpipes producers, and we strive to ensure every instrument leaving our workshops will sustain and enhance that reputation. But rather than 'blow our own trumpet' (!) we let our customers and the sound of our instruments speak for themselves.
Compare Kilberry bagpipes prices
Direct price comparison of bagpipes is not always easy, since much of the price variation is in the decoration. But Kilberry Bagpipes always beats any price charged by competitors supplying equivalent quality products, whether on a basic instrument or a 'top of the range' model (which will of course sound identical). Below are recent prices on almost identical instruments from the sort of manufacturers who produce instruments that compare in quality with our own.
| Prices at July 2008 | Kilberry Bagpipes | Shepherd | Kintail |
| Kilberry 'B' Set | £575.00 675.625 |
£670 (£750) |
£650 (£763.65) |
| Kilberry saves YOU: | £95 | £75 |
Prices in bold show the reduced VAT-free prices we automatically charge for orders outside Europe. Not all our competitors appear consistent about this, or don't always make it as clear as us what you'll really be paying, so beware!
