To get the best from this collection, the student must be at the stage of playing practice chanter to a basic level i.e. beyond the scale.
This CD contains 62 classic Highland Bagpipe tunes, all played on the practice chanter whilst the book has each tune clearly written. Each tune is nu,mbered in the book and relates to the appropriate track on the CD.
Tunes vary from slow airs such as Scots Wha Hae, The Dark Island, The Highland Cradle Song etc. to a great selection of 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 marches. These include the well known classics Highland Laddie, Barren Rocks of Aden, The Black Bear, The Green Hills, When the Battle¤s Over, Scotland the Brave, Rowan Tree and tons more. For the more adventurous, there are a few jigs, strathspeys and reels also included. Thes are ideal to listen to, practice and play along with.
