Troubleshooting

We have attempted to cover as many different aspects of the bagpipe as possible. However, here is a quick guide to problem solving:

1. Bag not airtight
   Season bag and check the stocks
2. Blowstick valve not working
   Check valve
3. Drone reeds stopping
   Adjust bridles or weaken chanter reet
4. Drones sound but chanter does not
   Chanter reed taking too much air
5. Drones tuning too low on tuning pin
   Adjust bridle down to sharpen reed
6. Drones tuning too high on tuning pin
   Adjust bridle up to flatten reed
   
7. Chanter pitch too flat
   Sharpen the pitch by sinking the reed further into the reed seat
8. Chanter pitch too sharp
   Flatten the pitch by lifting the reed further up in the reed seat
9. Individual note too sharp on chanter
   Partly cover hole with tape
10. Individual note too flat on chanter
    Sink reed further into reed seat to sharpen overall and tape other notes
