Scotweb takes your privacy and data security extremely seriously, and you can supply your credit card details on all Scotweb sites in confidence that this data will not be stolen or misused.

Our e-commerce system uses encryption (SSL & PGP) to transmit sensitive data such as credit card details. Data is encrypted at every stage from leaving your browser to when it is decoded by an authorised member of staff at our office. Such data are never stored unencrypted on our internet servers. This is more secure than, for example, ordering by telephone.

Scotweb was the first Scottish company to invest in SSL secure e-commerce technology (in 1995) and we go much further. We build our systems to the highest security standards so you can rest assured that your information is secure all the way to the supplier.

Scotweb systems are built on the robust Linux operating system, known for its superior security to Windows. Sensitive data such as credit card numbers never touch the disk of our servers without being encrypted, and we never store credit card numbers on our servers.

We insist that any partner company wishing to join the Scotweb network uses high-grade public key encryption for the transmission of sensitive data such as credit card numbers to and from our servers. Therefore your data is securely encrypted at all points from leaving your computer to arriving in the supplier's office.
